Alexander Shumsky, President Russian Fashion Council, is graduated from Moscow State University, Journalism. He is an entrepreneur, producer, publisher and public speaker.
In 1996 he founded Artefact Communications, the leading Russian PR company for luxury, fashion and lifestyle. Artefact had been working for more than 500 brands. In 2006-2007 he was at the position of VP of TSUM/Mercury. In 2013 he moved to the the position of President of Russian Fashion Council. Since 2000 he runs Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia, the biggest fashion event in CIS and EMEA, held twice a year.
In 2016 the Russian Fashion Council’s R&D group, led by Alexander Shumsky, developed the strategy for national fashion industry, titled FashionNet. Alexander Shumsky co-chaired the FashionNet with Oleg Fomichev, the State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russian Federation. In 2017 he launched Futurum Moscow, a free platform for young designers, and Fashion Futurum Accelerator which helps young fashion brands to develop the sustainable business.
